WHAT PRINCIPLE WAS ESTABLISHED?
The City of Chicago vs. The Chicago Tribune established that a government organization could not sue a newspaper for libel, no matter how slanderous the material in the publication is. In addition, the court case decided that newspapers are free to publish opinions on governmental figures and organizations.
