McCormick's Free Press Ideals

Before Robert McCormick's control of The Chicago Tribune, very few publishers ventured to publish radical ideas and opinionated material because they could be subjected to censorship. When Robert McCormick's sought to define the rights and responsibilities of a free press after his experiences in WWI, his definition created controversy.
